Wow! It's been over a year since I've written. I've thought about blogging, but too many obstacles have gotten in the way. So many things have happened over this last year. I did quit my job last August, but we also sold a house, bought a house, and sent our baby off to college... It's been one extremely busy year.
Today, I bask in the after glow of the Astros winning (for the very first time in history) the 2017 World Series Games. Yes, I stayed up and watched the game. Just before the end of the game, my phone rang. It was my son, the one in college, checking up on me. When he found out the Astros won, he very quickly wanted to terminate the call so he could go around the dorm and rub the victory in the faces of the Dodger's fans. I guess you do what you've got to do.
I also took a morning trip to view our new leather furniture before it gets delivered tomorrow. There's a tiny scratch, but we were assured it wouldn't be there by the time it arrives at our home. We shall see. It is beautiful, though. It's all leather sofa and love seat, in a sangria color and will look great in our new house!
And, I sit here concerned for my 19 year old who is coming back home from college today. He's had an interesting year as well. He waited a year after high school before heading off to Missouri in August to start studying up on a career he had not yet chosen, and to get a job to pay for that learning that he didn't save up for. (He knew if he saved the money from a year of working, that we would save and help him pay tuition. Sadly, no money was set aside.) Here it is the first of November and he's coming home because he didn't get a job and can't pay for school. I'm concerned because he's never made the drive from Missouri to Texas by himself, and he has a lead foot. A very heavy lead foot. Are you kidding me? As I'm writing this, my hubby texted me to say our son got a speeding ticket in Oklahoma. Sigh. I warned him not to speed. Not 3 hours ago I told him to set his cruise control to keep him out of trouble. Is anyone hiring? My 19 year old NEEDS a job to pay for a 66mph in a 55mph zone speeding ticket. GGRRRR
Go 'Stros!
